Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
Funny enough, Dr. Barker grew up as the “cavity kid” who was scared to death of the dentist’s office and even said outright more than once that he’d NEVER be a dentist! However, the older he got, the more he realized that he was fascinated by medicine. He was given the opportunity to shadow a sedation dentist at one point, and this experience forever changed his outlook on the oral healthcare field. Well over a decade later, he loves practicing dentistry because of how many smiles he has changed and the relationships he has developed.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
After completing his Bachelor of Arts from Texas A&M, Dr. Barker pursued his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Texas Health and Science Center in Houston. He is a Fellow of the prestigious Las Vegas Institute as well, which is a rare distinction awarded to dentists who have completed a minimum of 278 continuing education hours of training in advanced aesthetics and neuromuscular dentistry through the LVI Curriculum, along with a rigorous examination and three courses with live patients. He is also certified in soft tissue diode lasers and hard tissue wavelength lasers through the Academy of Laser Dentistry. He is currently a member of the following organizations:
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
