Sedation therapy is now available at Bluebonnet Dental. Being scared of the dentist is a recognized fear known as "dental phobia". Bluebonnet Dental understands this condition and has established relationships with specialists trained to alleviate your anxiety. Patients who suffer from anxiety or dental phobia are offered special care with a combination of dental sedation, anaesthetics, and an informative no-rush approach. Sedation begins as you meet your treating dentist and assistant, who will be specialists in sedation therapy. They will provide you with information about the process, answer all of your questions, and demonstrate what they intend to do. A small IV will be placed on your arm and medication will be administered to bring you to a state where you should lose sensation of pain and fear. You will become drowsy and unaware of the dentist or treatment, but will be able to cooperate with the dentist and at all times maintain all your protective reflexes. Dental sedation can be prolonged until the planned treatment is done. Local anaesthetic injection is often also used to control pain after the procedure. To prepare for treatment under sedation therapy we recommend you refrain from eating and drinking for the six hours prior to treatment. Other instructions may be provided for you prior to your appointment.
